There are days dedicated to getting great deals — Black Friday and Cyber Monday — but there is only one official day to give back: Giving Tuesday.

But isn’t that what the holidays are all about? They’re a chance to pause from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and give back to the family, friends and causes we care about. That’s what Giving Tuesday is all about.

On December 3, The Nature Conservancy is joining the #GivingTuesday movement by sharing your stories about why YOU give to nature. All day long, we’ll be tweeting and mentioning comments made on our #WhyIGive page through our Facebook and Twitter pages. The stories about why you give back inspire us every day. Sharing these on #GivingTuesday is our way of saying thanks!

Post your own story or tweet to us at @nature_org! It can be anything — why do you donate to the Conservancy? Why do you support conservation efforts at home and abroad? Who inspired you to make your first gift, and how do you inspire others to give to conservation efforts?

For example, Michael England from Prescott, Iowa writes:

“Our life journey from birth to death always brings us into the natural state of existence. We are at peace with ourselves when we experience the beauty of nature. The creations of nature feeds our spiritual and physical existence and injects a sense of well being as a human.”

Charlene Selle writes from Corralitos, CA:

“I had the privilege of growing up on a farm, and raising my children there as well. I still live outside a small town and love being surrounded by our trees and wildlife. I want future generations to be able to enjoy at least occasionally the same sort of environment.”

Pat Creamer from California writes:

“The conservancy is one of the few environmental groups that actually buy the land they want to conserve and work with other agencies to conserve land or species. They come up with programs to help farmers, ranchers & others conserve & manage their business in new ways to help the environment. I am impressed by their recent articles on helping with water rights and helping ranchers conserve the grasslands; thanks for using productive methods to further your goals.”

Telling others why you give is the easiest way you can give back on #GivingTuesday. So why not join Charlene, Michael, Pat and countless other individuals who have taken a minute to write about why they give to The Nature Conservancy? Share your story.
